VOLKAN KIZILTUNÇ

This video work is about Halle-Neustadt in East Germany which was called as the world’s “most sustainable city” in the GDR period. And as being allies with Communist Vietnam, there were huge population of Vietnamese migrants to work in the coal mines, so they called the new city Hanoi, to refer Vietnam. And it could’ve been succeed as an utopian city planning example for the period. Unfortunately there was a problem: people just didn’t like it. So they left it.
